Beschreibung

Rosenpass is a post-quantum secure key-exchange built to secure the WireGuard VPN against quantum attacks. By supplying a pre-shared key to existing WireGuard implementations, we ensure that our technology can be deployed without modifying WireGuard itself, greatly reducing the risk of adding security vulnerabilities when using the two together. This approach also makes it possible to use Rosenpass to migrate other encryption technologies to post-quantum security, even on relatively short notice. Our development process includes the state-of-the-art cryptographic verification techniques, such as symbolic verification, to secure the protocol or using the Rust programming language to avoid issues such as remote code execution vulnerabilities through buffer overflows. Rosenpass provides the same security properties against quantum attacks that WireGuard provides against classical attacks. Furthermore, Rosenpass is improving on WireGuard in some areas: In particular, Rosenpass provides forward secrecy, authentication, and improved resistance against protocol-level denial-of-service attacks.
